Hi. I’ve been diddling about in my spare time at work and have created a vast array of excellent textures for my desktop. And now for yours as well.
Make no mistake! These are professionally created, artistic textures MEANT to be on the desktop for long periods of time. None of that eye-straining crap I’ve been seeing lately. I’ve taken great care to make these especially pleasing to the eye, both in design and craftsmanship. The majority of these textures are seamless, not tiled.
All of these textures were created using Photoshop in combination with Kai’s Power Tools and Aldus Gallery Effects Vol. 1 on a 24-bit system. These textures, for the most part, are direct-mapped, 16 bit textures ( with a rare few being 32 bit). 90% of these WILL work in the 8-bit depth (like I have here at home...). Unfortunately, I haven’t taken the time to make sure they all look as beautiful in 8 bit as in 24 bit. Again, 90% of them look great. It’s still worth the download time. I hope to, in the future, optimize this set for 8-bit monitors.
I assume that these textures can also be translated into other programs like Click Change, Chameleon, Before Dark and Wallpaper but have not tried to do so myself. My recommendation is to get a copy of Desktop Textures 2.1 on America Online.
All Super Textures are freeware (how could I charge for something so fun to create?), but I would love to get feedback on them. Let me know how you like them, any improvements you think I should make, suggestions for future subject matter or (ugh) any problems with quality, tiling, etc.
